When a traveling circus comes to the town of Wachita, Texas bad things begin to happen under the Big Top. Super-sized sleuths, Sue Jan and Lovita take to the tents to track down a crazy clown killer, even though Lovita is fixing to give birth in just a few short weeks. And if that’s not enough, a scary Sasquatch is sighted in the Wachita woods, attracting a TV news reporter, a Bigfoot investigative team and a reality show film crew. The townsfolk are shaking in their cowboy boots but Sue Jan and Lovita aren’t clowning around.

I received a copy of this book in audio format from the narrator in exchange for a honest review.

Weird things start happening again when a traveling circus comes to Wachita. Just at their arrival there is an attempt of murder one of the crew members. Sue Jan and Lovita will not be able to refrain themselves from investigating this new mystery, even though Lovita is almost at the end of her pregnancy. Things start to get even weirder when a bigfoot is spotted in the woods surrounding the town and people from the media arrive in order to document it.

I have listened to this book with a mix of joy and sadness. I love this series, and knowing that for now this is the last book makes me sad, because I will really miss Sue Jan and Lovita, and their adventures. In this case we are against a quite convoluted mystery, in which we have several people being murdered and many possible culprits. The plot is interestingly built, with the right dose of humor and witty comments from our two female forensics to keep the listener hooked to the story.

This time I had more issues keeping track of all the new characters because there were more than in previous books, most of them belonging to the circus crew, but Kozar did a good job again at giving them distinctive characteristics and personalities. I think she has great abilities in creating picturesque characters and bringing them to life in a way that the listener is able to see them in their mind.

This series is very good, but my main reason to listen to these books is that they are narrated by Michelle Babb. I am sure that she could read the shopping list and make it compelling. The characters’ personalities gain an extra dimension thanks to Babb’s narrating and interpreting skills. And she is able to make the witty comments sound even funnier than they would be in print.

There is a seventh book of this series but it is not available yet as an audiobook. I hope it will be soon though. I will miss Sue Jan and Lovita and their crazy adventures.
