Jake has been leading a successful life. He is a rich actor with a beautiful wife, but one day he has a tragic car accident and both his arms and legs need to be amputated.
This is a just story, just under one hour duration. Even though being brief, it powerfully transmits a lot of emotions. I am not going to deny that it is very disturbing and not for the faint of heart, but I found the premises and development quite original and strong to not leave anybody indifferent.
As it is a short story it is expected that the characters are not very developed, but the tale speaks for itself, and we will get more than we expect from it. The end is completely unexpected, and I think everybody will try to understand what pushed Jake’s wife to do what she did. It is so disturbing that it will give you nightmares.
It took me some minutes to get used to the Scottish accent, but I have to say that Chris Barnes rightly delivered the characters emotions and transmitted the darkness of the story. I would like to listen to other books narrated by him.
I would recommend this book to anyone into horror and weird stories, with the positive aspect that it will make a quick listen, ideal when you have little time to spare.
