Book Review: Crash Alive

I was offered a free copy of this book in audio format by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Haylie Black is very smart teenage student which does not feel motivated by the daily routine at her highschool, so spends much time chatting with her friend Vector and hacking whatever she can just to feel challenged. Her older brother just vanishes one day while trying to resolve a famous internet puzzle called “Raven 2309”, and his employees contact Haylie in order to try to find him back. The only way will be just trying to solve the puzzle herself, but she will discover that many more things than her brother are at risk.

Crash is a techno-thriller about a near future that could very well be ours. The power destined to be in the hands of a few and the rest of the world immersed in the chaos. The parts of the puzzle Haylie had to solve were interesting enough, but if one wants to double check them by themselves, I would maybe recommend the written version. I confess that as I was listening to the audiobook, I skimmed through most of them and did not second guess what they said.

Amanda Dolan was the perfect narrator for this book, having the perfect tone for Haylie, and also performing greatly for the rest of characters and narration.

‘Crash Alive’ is an entertaining listen, packed with action and a view of a possible future of mankind. I am curious to know about future adventures of Haylie Black.

My name is Elena. Since I was a little child I loved science fiction and fantasy, and I can’t resist to a good novel. In 2015, while wait I started to listen to audiobooks and I discovered the pleasure in being able to read while doing my daily tasks, so there’s always an audiobook playing on my phone. If you see me with my Bluetooth headphones on, please be gentle, I get easily startled.

I live with my boyfriend, which I met during my six year stay in Belgium, two cockatiels, five lovebirds, and two Gouldian finches in Madrid, Spain; and I like to spend my free time knitting and sewing while listening to audiobooks.
